THE BASICS OF OUR SERVICES

We are finding more and more, that a repair on an automatic changer to fix one problem isn't the solution. It may work fine for a month or two, then something else goes wrong. This is especially true if you are taking one back out of the closet after it being stored for the last 10 or 15 years. That hardened grease that we've mentioned on other pages, here on our site, takes it's toll. If the grease got hard in one area, and makes that part not function correctly, you can be sure, in time, the grease will get hard in another area, rendering it inoperative later on. Although each changer can have a unique problem, certain machines are prone to certain failures. Experience has taught us that there are now certain machines that we WILL NOT take in for "repair", that the ONLY way we will "handle" them is "total rebuild"

Here are the basics of our service:

Our basic repair labor rate is $45 per hour, one hour minimum.

There is no charge to check and estimate a unit!

Our warranty for a partial or full rebuild, or a recommended repair is 30 days INCLUDING 2 way shipping if that becomes necessary. We will extend that warranty in some cases, but you may be liable for the shipping charges. Phone support is free. our phone hours are listed on the home page. The same warrantees apply to units we sell, unless we sell it "as is". Either way, you will get paperwork specifying the work done, and your warranty.

If a unit comes poorly packed, there WILL be a charge for a new box and/or packing materials!

We give free written estimates for UPS, FedEx, USPS and other claims, as long as the unit is here IN OUR SHOP. They can be mailed, e-mailed or faxed.

Once we give an estimate, it is binding. In other words, a price will not exceed the price we've quoted, as long as we have physically seen the unit.

Should you opt for a repair, and we recommend another service we feel the unit needs (or will need),and you decline, then we will NOT do that repair, and will return the unit to you at your expense. If w recommend a partial or full rebuild, it's ONLY because experience tells me it's the cheapest and best way in the long run. A partial or full rebuild also includes re-packing the damping fluid in the cue assembly, if the unit uses a damping system.

We have a large stock of the most commonly used parts for the most common turntables (and there are MANY!). That includes belts, idlers, headshells,cartridges/stylii and spindles. We generally do NOT sell parts outright, as our stock is meant to service YOUR turntable as quickly as possible. We do maintain a list of suppliers that we deal with for certain things, so should you e-mail us for a part that we know you can get directly from one of our suppliers, we will send you there to help you cut costs.

General turnaround time runs within about a week (at this point, subject to change, and subject to parts availability).

Keep in mind that most of the companies that built these turntables originally are either no longer around, and if they are still in business, they are not interested in something they made more than 5 years ago. Hence, a lot of parts are not available at all, some we actually have to fabricate, some come from "junkers", and some are available, at highly inflated prices. There are, however, some companies that still DO care about their product, and we can still order parts, at almost reasonable prices. We also do buyouts of new, old stock and used parts wherever it's feasable to do so. Our in-stock parts price reflects availability, as well as it's costs to us. We try to be as fair as we can be with parts prices. If a parts price seems high, there's a reason behind it. We dislike price-gougers (and there are some companies that we've dealt with that are), and try to keep our parts pricing reasonable.
