I just wanted to tell you that I finally got a chance to use the repaired Fisher turntable this evening.... you did a marvelous job !!!!.. I really appreciate you getting it back in working order for me..... it is nice to know that you can get something repaired these days instead of just throwing it out.... it is so nice to be able to play records again... I'm back listening to my Jackie Gleason Albums.... LOL

________

I just wanted to let you know that the turntable arrived today. I hooked it up, cued an LP and it works great. Tracking is right on and the carrier works just like it should. What did you find? I assume it was an adjustment of some sort. I want to thank you for hanging in and getting this right, I really appreciate it.

________

Hi Joel, Hope all is okay with you. If you are anything like me you appreciate feedback good or bad. Everything is set up and back in place. The sound is sweet, like a fine musical instrument. Bear in mind, this comment is from someone whose (not bad's) are considered a rave review. I've added felt pads 2x2 3/4in high at the 4 corners, feedback and rumble (zero). This also allows for good airflow since I had cut the molded plastic feet off the base. Thumbwheel on mounting shell was set to "S"..I moved to "E", I assume this is correct....Thanks...Paul (Dual 1218)

________

We've been enjoying lots of hours of great music around our house since you fixed our Dual. Thanks, again. Just wondering if we should replace the stylus after all this time. That's probably a difficult question for you to answer. We did increase the tracking weight from 2.5 to 3, because it was skipping a bit, and we've probably put around 300 hours on the little Dual. No big deal. Thought maybe we could send you the cartridge and have you replace the stylus, if necessary. Let us know what you think.

________

Hi Joel, just a note to let you know how pleased I am with the cartridge and stylus you sent. My friend, Nancy, came down to install and balance it and we put on our first 78. Voila!! It worked!! How wonderful to be able to play my 78s again.

________

The Elac 50H just showed up. and it sounds fantastic. thanks for getting it working again. just one last question. which description on your website for balancing the tone arm applies to my turntable. i think the first, but i'm not quite sure. right now both dials are around 2 and the counterweight is about 1/4 inch off the back of the tone arm. again, it sounds great but i'd like to make sure it's set up correctly so i don't wear out the needle too quickly. thanks again.

________

All of the parts arrived today in good condition and everything fit perfectly. The platter is straight as an arrow. It is a relief to finally have feet for the turntable so the audio cables can clear without having to hang the back of the base off of the table. I am very satisfied with the sevice that I recieved. It was fast, prompt, polite, and honest. Works for me. Thanks a bunch. I'll be sending the check in the morning. As I said before, it is a pleasure working with a professional. I will be more than glad to tell anyone about your service.

________

I just wanted to let you know the turntable arrived safely.... I took it out of the box tonight and put it together.... it looks wonderful...!!!! now I just have to figure out where I am going to put it.... looking forward to trying it this weekend....

We'll probably be retired before I have to send it off again, so I hope you've got attentive kids or assistants! Glad it worked out well w/Mr. L****** - always nice to have understanding customers when things go awry... ...Kevin

________

The two Dual 1000 series stacking spindles you rebuilt for me work PERFECTLY...I have really been putting them through their paces, and haven't had any problems yet...a BIG THANKS!!! (any problem with stacking up to 11 albums on the platter at a time???)And the AS-12 also works wonderfully!!! Very pleased with your work - looking forward to doing more business soon... Ed

________

It's here (Elac 50H) and appears to be fine. The cueing lever is a little stiff but it must be part of the original damage from shipping to you, otherwise all looks good. Thanks for your quick turnaround and nice job! If you ever come across a top shelf Marantz tuner, let me know. Thanks again, Joel.... Tim

________

I just had to say you guys did a fantastic job, the turntable (Garrard RC-121) is better now the ever! And i got it back quicker then i thought possible. thanks again. eric

________

I've been using my Dual 1245 for a couple of months after you repaired it. I just wanted to tell you that it is still working great. You do great work and at a very reasonable price. Thanks. Doug

________

Good Afternoon Sir, I want to thank you for the excellent restoration of our turntable, it works perfectly, Also do you have A 45 auto spindle model LRS 100 Again thank you. Scott and Linda

_________

I don't know if you remember but my first transaction with you was the purchase of a Dual 1229Q. Just want to let you know that the machine is awesome, it works perfectly and I have played it for countless hours already. I'm thinking about buying another stackable turntable for my parent's summer cottage which I visit regularly (probably another Dual 1229 or 1019) so I'll look forward to mailing you again in the future. If you ever need a rave on your web-site let me know. Thanks again. Ted

_________

amazing!!!! simply amazing. the little elves at the turntable factory really outdid themselves. I am speechless. I hooked it up and played records for 5 hours tonight....records I haven't heard in 25 - 40 years...and I gotta tell ya...it came close to a night with a lot of drink. The garrard looks like you painted it new...and it sounds like new....and it functions like new...and I am just speechless. You guys are true wizards!!! (I assume you will all be around at lunch time on Tuesday???) Nancy

________

Joel, Got the table today! Works great! (hope, as you say, it will continue to for some time to come) First time in years! Looks great! Thank you so much. It's been quite a pleasure dealing with you and enjoying both the communications and the results. If you ever need an additional customer reference - just ask. Very best, Mark

_________

Joel, I am playing the 701 right now. It really competes well with brands like REGA and VPI (I have owned both). The Shure is a winner, and I love being able to adjust the lift height. And you did a great job on it. The controls are as smooth as 30 years ago! Thanks! Cheers, Frank

_________

Well, it came late yesterday, and looks great! I have not hooked it up yet, but will soon. I sure appreciate all you have done, advice-wise, education, etc. And now I can advise everyone I know on proper shipping!! I will also mention you and your website to anyone who will listen, and whoever sees or hears the 1600 will ask me where it came from I'm sure; actually I will probably tell them before they even ask! Thanks again, and I suspect we will have a chance to visit again someday! Joel (the technics 1600 guy with initial bad luck)

_________

Re: DUAL 1229 Got it! Will open it up today and give it a spin. (2nd e-mail): It works great! Thanks again for your professional service! Steve

_________

Joel: I received the turntable (Dual 1229) last Friday, and I am very pleased with your fine work! Setting it up was a pleasure, and while it is far from brand new (my uncle was harder on it than I realized), it plays great and looks great, including the repaired base. Thank you very much!.................. Thanks again for a terrific repair. Your work borders on artistry! Jay

_________

Joel, Last email!! The Duel (1264) has been balanced, dials set, wires connected and records stacked! The thing works and sounds great as one golden oldie after another fills the house!!! Thanks again… Dolores & John

_________

It was 2 years ago that you rebuilt my 4 turntables. Of all, the Garrard Lab 80 and the Dual 1229Q --still, to this day, perform without flaw and are in use everyday. I'll never forget the tour of your neat little factory as I passed through town. Thanks, Joel & Staff!! Your pal- James S(******)- Detroit, Michigan

_________

Hey, Joel: Received the Wildcat today. You did an OUTSTANDING job on it! Absolutely amazing! Thank you very much from a man who coveted one of these little baby's whilst growing up in the 1970's! I've got a great component system...but this is pure nostalgic fun. I'm going to have to look for some old Disney records on Ebay for my kids to spin on it. I will be sending you the turntable from the console sometime soon. Thank you very much! David

_________

Hey Joel, Got the turntable (Denon DP-62L) back on tuesday. it works great, of course, and sounds amazing. Thanks again. The shure cartridge was a good decision. Brian

_________

Wow! It is like I have been listening to a kids toy before! (Technics SL-1600) I didn’t know that my speakers would sound that good. I have one concern with the table- not anything to do with packing, shipping, refurbishing etc- the needle makes a slight scratching sound as the cartridge plays across the record. I think I may have the tone arm weighted too heavily on the record and part of the cartridge shell(real technical lingo here) may be rubbing the surface. I will have to figure out how to lessen the pressure. Anyway, the table was very well packed. It arrived without a scratch. The amazing thing to me is that it feels so tight. 30 year old machine feels brand new. Fantastic. Jeff

_________

Hi Joel, Just to let you know that the record changer got back just fine and I was able to re-instal it last weekend. Seems to work great and my mom is very happy. One thing I notice is some clicking and rumble down inside that varies with speed. I don't think it made that much noise before (but it didn't work too well, either). Should I be concerned about the noise coming from under the turntable? Thanks, Dan

_________

Joel, It (Garrard RC-120) just arrived about an hour ago... Put in in the cabinet, hooked it up, and WOW.... She plays beautifully, and what's more, she looks like NEW... Thanks so much for the quality that you did with it... I'm very impressed the 40 year old performs like new... By the way, if you get a chance... can you tell me what stylus I need for a replacement, as I'm sure my wife will wear it out... Thanks again so very much!! Joe Thanks, Dan

_________

Joel, The record changer (Dual 1237), cables, cartridge, stylus, preamp, and other accessories arrived Tuesday. The outer box took some hits, but the inner box didn't suffer even one dent. Good job packing! I am happy with my purchase and appreciate your expert advice. I am going to convert the vinyls, tapes, and cassettes to MP3 files and then put them on DVD's. Thanks Again, Tim

_________

Hello, I am enjoying the Dual 1229 that you rebuit for me last year. I have a question---on the antiskate control, which is the side of the dial for elliptical stylus-the red or the white?. If I have an elliptical stylus, should the little pointer be pointing at red or white marks in the round knob? Also, did Dual ever make an overhang guage for this turntable? Would you have one for sale? Would this guage work on all 12XX series or just the 1229? Thanks, Ed

_________

Hello again. I've got the table (Technics SL-1200MK2) and everything seems to be working just fine. If I need help in the future I know who to call. Thank you and take care. Ryan

_________

Hi, We just received the motor. I have the record player running next to me right now. It sound great and it is not heating up like it did before. Thanks very much. David

_________

Joel and staff: I got my Dual 1229 back via UPS after an extensive teardown and rebuild by your firm. I have to say the finished product is nothing short of stunning for it's precise function; timing of automatic features is as if brand new, levers require only finger tip pressure for crisp operation. With the "stacker" spindle installed it is likewise flawless; it had literally been decades since I'd witnessed a perfectly functioning "stacker" in action! This turntable is now a true joy to own. The cost of service was worth every cent. I will certainly keep you in mind when one of my other turntables needs to be serviced, but a seriously doubt you will see this one again; it is likely good for more time than I have left on earth, as I'm already past 40. Thanks to all of you again! Paul

_________

Joel - unit (Technics SL-1300MKII) arrived last week - works excellently - thanks for the service. One question - how do I adjust the counterweight at the end of the tonearm to ensure the balance is just right? It's been a long time since I've had a standard turntable (early 80s - had a linear tracker for about 20 years). I remember there's a bit of a balancing act to get the weight just right. Thanks - Pete

_________

It was sitting at my doorstep when I got up this morning.(Dual 1229) I found someone selling an overhang gauge (complete with spacers, even!) on eBay and managed to purchase it. There's one investment which paid off immediately. I had it set up and ready to play within an hour. Proof yet again that the right tools make the job easier. I started with a record I've had for about 30 years and has had a lot of playing time on it (ZZ Top's 'Tres Hombres'). ll I can say is....wow. I figured it would have a little less noise to it, but I didn't really expect that much of a reduction. If it can make an old and worn-out record sound good I know it will make newer releases sound fantastic. It looks terrific and it sounds wonderful. Everything appears to be functioning as it should. Congratulations on a job well done. I will recommend your services to all I know who wish to have their equipment repaired...and if they're not interested I will try to run off with their record collections. Thanks for all your help in fulfilling a lifetime goal Over the next few days I will probably lose some sleep listening to some old memories. Roy

_________

Hey, Joel: That GE Wildcat you restored for me...my kids are having a ball with it!!! Thanks for doing an excellent job! David

_____________

About a year ago I sent you my Dual 1219 for some much needed help and reconstitution. As I type this I'm listening to one of my olde Mike Bloomfield / Nick Gravenites albums on that turntable you so beautifully restored to usefulness. Thank you so much for being there and Happy Holidays to you and yours. Michael

Joel, I've been wanting to write this for a long time, but for one excuse or another I haven't. Here it goes....First, a quick refresher - you overhauled my Magnavox changer last year and extended the life of one of favorite possessions. Now for the good part - let me start at the beginning....my mother, who just turned 81 used to be an accomplished piano player. Time and arthritis have put an end to that. Sometime in the early to mid 1940s, Mom made 3 recordings on state-of-the-art (??) 78's. The records have survived the decades in decent shape, considering their age. I bought a CD recorder in June with the intention of putting some of my vinyl on CD. I decided to record Mom's songs so that the entire family, especially my niece and nephews, could, once again, appreciate her talent. I made several copies and gave them to assorted family members and friends on July 5th. Mom informed us, the following week, that she had been diagnosed with colon cancer. Fortunately all went well, but it scared us all and was a harsh reminder of our mortality!! The disc is one way of ensuring that Mom's talent is never forgotten, even when she is gone. For your part in the creation of this family heirloom, I am eternally grateful. Your talent and passion is, no doubt, appreciated by many, especially me! Many thanks, Rick

Joel – I just wanted to say thanks for doing such an amazing job on my Technics SL-1650 stacking changer turntable. It's like new - incredible! Stacking those 45's on that spindle makes me feel like I'm 14 again. Awesome! Thanks, Jesse

Joel, Just wanted you to know that I received my turntable today and have played a few of my favorites. It's like "brand new," and I'm really enjoying the sound of LP's again - 45's tomorrow. Question - did you set the specs for the tone arm and counter balance? When I first started playing an LP, it seemed like the music, not voice, was flat/off key. I tweaked the tone knob on the right and it sounded better, but never achieved the steady "strobe" as I had in the past. Do I need to do some further adjustment to the tonearm It sounded really good and I'm looking forward to playing more of the "old" stuff. Thanks for all you've done. jn

Hey Joel: This afternoon I got around to opening it (Dual 1229 sold on eBay) and setting it up. It arrived completely intact, thanks for the packing, and setting it up and balancing the arm were a breeze. I didn't know at first that you had to loosen the thumb screw to install the counterweight shaft, but I figured it out. One question: Is the anti-skate scale for the conical stylus on this cartridge the white one or the red one? I set it on the white one because that's where it was set when I opened it. Everything operates perfectly, just as you said, and boy is this thing quiet! My other turntable is a Garrard Zero 100, and, as much as I like it, the auto mechanism on that sounds like the transmission in an eighteen-wheeler compared with this one! I will need a break-in period to really assess the sound, but, so far, I like it--seems to reveal more of the nuances in the music than the Garrard. Was just listening to "Year of the Cat," and it sounded very nice. I appreciate that you included a cartridge, and it sounds great, but, of course, I can't wait to hear this table sing when I swap the cartridge for a better one. I have a couple lightly used ones around the house that I might try. The table looks great, too--great job in cleaning it up. Obviously, I'm very pleased. I guess some would consider the price high for this table, but, hey, I could have paid more for a new Music Hall, and it probably wouldn't be as well built. I guess that's it. You must have a great job, bringing turntables back to life. I can't think of anything more fun! Thanks again. I will leave positive feedback for you on eBay and hope you will do the same for me. Best regards, Bruce

I received both turntables (Dual 1219 & Sony PS-FL7) in good condition. They are working like new again. I followed your instructions for setting up the Sony; they saved me set-up time. What I like about the Sony is that it is the only stackable turntable that I have ever seen. My wife and I listened to the same music on a CD and a vinyl record. We played the record on the Sony. The vinyl record had a warm sound and better bass sound. The CD sounded harsher. I heard other people making the same comment but this is the first time that I verified this myself. Thank you for repairing them. Gerald

Hey Joel, Just wanted to tell you that you did a great job (Dual 505) and it's so wonderful to be able to play my precious albums again. Thanks, Michelle

Thanks Joel for everything. The AR XA works perfectly like its new and straight out of the box. Thanks for resetting the dampening feature it makes it much easier and safer to cue up a record and I would have never known that feature was available. The M91ED cartridge sounds great especially like the design where you could just pop in a new stylus. Probably not but do you have extra needles available for that cartridge? Thanks again for working on the turntable. Jeff

Joel.. You are truly a master of your trade as well as a man of your word. My Garrard (Zero 100) is working great In fact so good that I think I will once again grow my hair long and start wearing bell bottoms again.. I can tell by the condition that the unit returned to me in proves that you are a true craftsman in this Field of work. The unit looks like it did when it was brand new and sounds just as good. I will send all Of my friends to you with their turntables.. I will admit that I thought it could not be done being over 30 years Old but you sure proved me wrong.. If you ever need some one to vouch for your honesty and your workmanship You send them to me.. Thanks again Mike

Joel, I had the opportunity to use the changer (Dual 1237, warranty repair) over the weekend and it really works well! Thanks for fixing it. Other items also made it without damage. Tim

Just to let you know - my Technics turntable (SL-1510) arrived just fine and works flawlessly. Finally got round to assembling & trying it out the other day, (yeah, it takes me awhile to get things done). Thanks again for job well done & will recommend you to anyone I know with an ailing turntable! Tracy

Hi again, The BSR (rebuilt & sold by us) arrived this morning and I am more than pleased. I am grateful. The packing was perfect and so is the machine. It does work like new and is now hooked up to my central, high-end stereo with the big TV just off the living room, playing Jazz 78s, as intended. It was worth the money. (I also have a sound room with another stereo and a third set-up on the dining room.) I wasted too much time and money playing the eBay game. The BSR I already had is still in repair warranty and I will try again to get the mechanism adjusted so the tone arm hits the 78s right. You know, some 78s produce a high-quality signal. The Columbia's especially have been showing 16,000 KHz. The early machines they played on could not reproduce this much sound. By the way, how many 78s would you stack on this spindle? I am doing four now. Thank you and I believe you will be hearing from me again. Stan

Hi Joel, I just received my turntable and I want to REALLY thank you :) I didn't expect to receive it back so fast and I was shocked when UPS arrived at my door. First let me say that you are a magician! I can't remember this TT ever sounding this good, I feel the way I did when I first bought it many years ago. It is just fantastic and you were right about the cartridge...WOW!! I am now playing an old Mink DeVille LP and the vocals have never sounded so clear. I have decided to take tomorrow off from work because I have a feeling that there will be a lot of music playing and beer drinking today. Thank you for making me feel like a teenager again. Please feel free to use this email any way you want.

Izzy

Joel I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with your "rebuild" of my Dual 1229. We are totally enjoying it. You did a super job at a fair price. Thanks, John

Hi Joel, My turntable (Akai AP-B110 CL) arrived today in perfect condition. It sounds as good as the day I bought it. Thank you again. I have been telling my friends and coworkers about you and the good work you do. It seems like many people have old stereo equipment that need repair, but they don't want to get rid of it. So I tell them to get it repaired. Take care and keep up the good work. Tom

Hi Joel; Table (Zero-100) arrived yesterday in good condition! Have tested it and it not only looks like new but performs like new also! Thanks for the great job and the quick service! I will get an idler from **** some time this spring and I changed out the cartridge to a Shure V15 Type III which works very well. I may have another one for you to do later in the summer (A SL 95) depending what it looks like and works. It is for 78s. Thanks once again. Talk to you later. Robert

___________________

Turntable (Dual CS-505-1) arrived safe and sound the other day. I followed your instructions to balance the tone arm and pulled some vinyl out of their sleeves for the first time in years. Results were outstanding, in fact better than when the unit was new. One concern- I have never balanced a tonearm before, so if I didn't do it perfectly, am I exceeding the OM-10's recommended 1.25-1.75 tracking force? The arm appears to be parallel to the platter whether I turn the counterweight a little bit one way or another. How do I know if I got it right? Thanks.

Joel, We received our Dual 1019 today. It looks wonderful and sounds great. We are very happy with everything you did. Thank you. Michael

I “LOVE IT” doesn’t really do justice to my deep pleasure of having that turntable (Technics SL-1800MK II) in use. Tears of joy and gratitude that someone gave up their machine so that I would be able to obtain that turntable. I also have a Technics SL-23 that is need of a belt, I guess, and a JVC JL-A15, that is need of a belt. I prefer the direct drive, so that is why I bought what I did. I would, however, like to get both of the other machines running again. The JVC has no cartridge, and needle, the one in the SL-23 is marked as “ATN-771E”. Just what is it and what are the performance spec’s for it, if you know. Yes, I do love it, and much deeper feelings beyond that. I’m very happy with it. Do, please, live long and prosper.Keel

Joel, Everything is (Dual 1229Q rebuild) working, and the sound is great. I played my old albums most of the evening. I have been collecting Bluegrass music for a long time, and I'm going to start looking for old records. Thanks, Ray

Joel - turntable (Technics SL-1610) arrived safely last night, and has been tracking vinyl all morning - Thanks so much, what a great turntable! I love the charcoal gray as opposed to the silver - I don't think I ever remember seeing an old Technics in this color, but it looks and plays beautifully! I hope to enjoy it for years to come- Joe

Hi Joel, Just a note to say thanks for the great job on my turntables. The Technique 1200 MkII's are back in great shape and the Garrard Zero 100 is just like new. My 1987 system plays like a dream. Your friendliness and professionalism was (and is) most appreciated and I am happy someone is keeping up the tradition and skill of keeping vinyl and the equipment to play it going strong. Thanks again for a great visit and a fine job on my valued turntables. I will recommend you highly and add a link to The Turntable Factory to my web site. Andy

Hi Joel: I got the 1249 yesterday, and just as you promised, it is wonderful and plays great! The damped cueing is super smooooth! Thanks so much for doing a wonderful job with it. There is sort of a story that goes with the 1249 -- I had gotten it from someone who was going to throw it out, but I told him it could be restored, so he gave it to me (together with the original owners manual, single-play and stacking spindles, black 45 puck and AS-12 spindle) and I promised him I would have it rebuilt so it would play again like new ... and you have done that! Only thing now is that I'd like to someday get a nicer base for it. Thank you again for doing a great job with it, and also with the 10-series spindles -- they're great too. I should be in a position to send the 601 to you in mid-September or so. You may remember that it needed to have the motor changed, like the 1249 did, and feeling ambitious, I was able to remove the SM-860 motor from an old Dual 1245 and successfully swap it into the 601. So now the double-speed problem is taken care of; the only problem with it now is that there is no lateral arm movement. I'll let you know when I am actually able to send it. Take care and enjoy the rest of your summer. Andre

Joel, Hi. Although my machine (Dual 1229) has been here for over a week, I just unpacked it last evening. I am happy to report that it works perfectly and it sounds great. Thank you!! Much appreciated. I will be certain to recommend you if I encounter anyone who is looking to have a turntable restored to top working condition. Thanks again!! Larry

Hi, got the Dual (721) back yesterday and got her playing, sweet! You did a real nice job and it seems like a real nice machine.Anyway, I have 2 orphaned cartridges I'd like your input on. One is an Ortofon VMS 20E-looks old to me. The other is a Grado M1+ that looks newer. The Grado that you sent back, would it be a good match for the 721 if I get it re-tipped? I know the wooden bodied Grados are $200.00 +. Thanks. Dan

Hi Joel, WOW!!! You and your elfin crew worked some real magic on this one! The table arrived undamaged today and I just hooked it up. Never owned a new SL 1310 MK2 way back when during the time of the pterodactyls, but this one may as well be! It not only looks brand new but works like brand new! Now on to clean off and enjoy some real "vintage vinyl!" Like Mr. Natural sez "Heighty Hi and Keep on Truckin'!" Many thanks. Rick

Joel, The Dual 621 arrived safe and sound yesterday and is tracking beautifully. Thanks for the advice on the cartridge. Hold onto my address and phone and let me know if you ever head to Florida. Thanks again. Blake

Hi Joel, Just a short note to let let you know that this table (Technics SL-1310 MKII) you repaired for me a couple of weeks ago is performing flawlessly-(2-3 hours/day)! I know your thoughts about Audio Technica cartridges, but I teamed the table up with an AT 440 ML (decided against scaring up a relacement Pickereing XV 1200 stylus)to A/B it against the Shure 97xE you installed. It's all personal preference, but to my ear the AT has a bit more "presence" than the Shure. Nothing at all harsh, bright or overbearing about it. Either way, I think you'll agree that people gave up on vinyl too easy. Many thanks again for the fine work you do. Rick

WOW WOW WOW These are the words that best describe my Dual 1219 after the Turntable Factory repaired it. The sound that comes from it is just like it was when the table was made those so many years ago. If anyone has the any doubt as to what kind of work that Joel does please read the beginning of this note. Joel I want to thank you for the wonderful job that you did thanks again and WOW WOW WOW. Thanks again for a job well done a very thankful and satisfied customer. Mike

Hi Joel, The turntable (Dual 1229) arrived today well packaged and undamaged. You did an excellent job of fixing it. I was amazed that you were able to straighten the tonearm considering how severely bent it was. One would never know. I reassembled the unit but haven’t had a chance to test it as yet. In putting it together I came across a small “C” ring, perhaps a 3/8 inch in diameter, but I didn’t know where to put it. It was packed along with the counterbalance for the tonearm. Your advice as to where it might belong would be appreciated. An unrelated question: Was a 45 rpm automatic spindle for stacking 45s ever made for the Dual 1229? Regards, Donald.

Thumbwheel on mounting shell was set to "S"..I moved to "E", I assume this is correct....Thanks...Paul

Hey there, Well, its here hooked up and already being played (V-M/Zenith changer). What a surprise!!! My sister came over to visit and she came in with this package...ups left it at the door. I screamed... Openened it up immediately and hooked it back up. we danced around the room to aunt millies record, Jack Jones, the song lady!!! We both cried... what a surprise and it is WONDERFUL!! I can't beleive EVERYTHING works like brand spankin new!!! Joel. even though this repair is over, I still want to keep in touch with you. Doing business with you was not like dealing with most repair people. You were always communicating to me as to what was going on, and very qquick at returning my e mails and concerns... You made a dream come true, even through all you've just been through. I have tears in my eyes as I am writing this, and when Aunt Millie hears and sees it next week, she will be absolutely thrilled!! grateful, thankful, crazy, no longer obsessed Mary Ann

Hi Joel, I received the turntable (Dual CS-508) last week, it is in good shape, and it sounds excellent. Thanks for all the good work, the timely communication, and putting in the effort despite your health troubles. I hope you have a restful and happy holiday time and new year! If you need recommendations or anything else, please let me know. Best wishes, Rick

Joel: My DUAL 1249 was waiting for me when I got home from work last night. I have reinstalled it in my stereo cabinet, adjusted the tone arm, and played two records. It works perfectly! Not that I had any doubts. Thank you very much for your help. One more question. Were any parts replaced (of most interest, the drive-belt)? Thanks, and have a great New Year! Jan

Joel - thank you so much for bringing our SL 1950 back to life - all the features work wonderfully - no more skating across the records, nice return at the end of play, beautiful control of the arm, works better than new. Just to be able to use this turntable again is terrific ! As the song goes - "you make me feel so young, you make me feel like spring has sprung ! " And beautiful work on the repair of the cabinet cracks and feet - you really know your stuff ! Thanks again - Mary

Joel, You guys did an ABSOLUTELY SUPERB REPAIR/REBUILD of my Dual 1019!!!!!!! WOW! I believe the stereo separation is better than when it was new. (The wow is the excitement kind, not the wow and flutter kind :>) !! My wife said that our LP's sound better than they have in many, many years. I am sure you do not need any more recommendations; however, I would be glad to recommend you to anyone! I hope and pray that you are still enjoying rebuilding classic turntables. An extremely satisfied customer, Jerald

Hi Joel, Sorry I haven't gotten back to you but I am in the process of packing as I am moving into a new house on Monday. I just wanted to tell you that I received it back last Monday Jan 30th and I hooked it up and it sounded FANTASTIC! You really are a magician and a person who truly stands by the service they offer. I wish EVERY business operated the way that you do and I sincerely mean it. I remember when I bought the turntable that the manual stated that I should put in a few drops of some lubricating oil that they supplied every thousand or so hours. Is that really necessary as that oil is WAY gone! If I do need to do it does Technics still supply it? Thanks again, Izzy

Goodmorning Joel: Just had time to setup TT. (Dual CS-522) Mechanics are smooth. Listening to Dave Mason "Alone Together" and its pretty neat just watching the record spin. This will do me well for the next 30 years. Anything else just doesn't cut it. Much appreciate your expertise. Regards, Gene

Hi Joel, Yes, the cue height adjustment screw worked perfectly. Wow, the turntable has not worked so well in many years. It sounds just fantastic. I am so grateful to have my beloved 1229 restored again. Many thanks for all your expertise and your prompt replies to my emails. You run a first rate business. I have another question regarding some 78's that I would like to play on this turntable. Which cartridge and stylus would you recommend for this? Are extra Dual cartridge holders still available so that I can switch cartridges easily? Thanks again, Lee

Hi Joel, I have been out with a touch of the flu for several days so I have not been on e-mail too much. I wanted to let you know that I received the turntable (Technics SL-1950) and new cartridge back on Wed. in good condition I unboxed it and put it together on Thurs. night and put an LP on that has been a favorite which I have not played for several years. I gotta tell you, I don't think Nazareth, Hair of the Dog ever sounded as good as it did the other night!!!! Thanks for a job well done. So I am back in business and ready to start the time consuming (but worth it) task of converting all of my LP's to digital so that I can once again enjoy music I loved and came of age with. (Sorry, no rap on this turntable - I'm too old to enjoy that stuff) Bring on the Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Peter Frampton and early Genesis. Like I said in my first e-mail to you a long time ago, I'm stuck in da seventy's as I know you are too. (One of my favorite TV shows is "I love the seventies" very cool and humorous Thanks Again, Take Care. Clark

Dear Joel, Thank you...thank you....thank you!!! We just received the turntable (Garrard 630S) today via UPS, hooked it up and listened to our "nostalgic" LPs. What a terrific sound!! We really missed some of our old records from the past 45 years. Because of your talent, we were able to once again listen to the old songs and muster some very special memories. We are so happy to have found someone so knowledgeable and talented!!! Fondly, Margaret

Hello Joel, I received the Dual 1214 and was listening to music 15 minutes after I unpacked it. Sounds good, looks good and performs as advertised. You guys do good work, and thanks. I came to the Turntable Factory initially because I bought an eBay Dual 1010 which was ruined in shipping. I want to give it away for parts. If I can't find anybody local, might you have any interest in it? I don't want money for it, I just to keep it out of the landfill. It's still a Dual! Thank you again, Richard

Joel, This note is to let you know that the Dual 2118 (1218, actually) turntable you recently repaired for me works perfectly. I hooked up, put on a record and it worked like new. No adjustments were required - I just " plugged and played". The unit works better than new. I was very impressed with your technical skill, good analysis skill and your ability to get the unit back into perfect condition very quickly. Thank you very much for your help. Jim

Dear Joel--- WOW! What a pleasant surprise when the UPS truck drove up to my house about two hours ago and delivered my BSR Minichanger that I sent you just six days ago to be repaired. You have mentioned that you are providing service like we got in the 60s and 70s. I doubt that even then did many provide the quality of service which you are providing. The turntable works like new. Thank you very much for a job well done. It is a pleasure to do business with you. In our telephone conversation, you insisted that this would be handled as a warranty repair, even though it was well past the warranty period. You explained your reasoning, which I understand. However, I do not feel that you should incur any expense in this matter so I am asking you to accept the enclosed check in the amount of $10.00 which should cover the cost of shipping. If it does not, or if you incurred any other expense, please let me know. Joel, we wish the very best for you, and our prayers are with you. Sincerely, Jack (via US Mail)

Joel, I just wanted to drop a note of thanks for your excellent service. I never know what to expect when I try someone I found on the internet, but I always hope I find good service at a fair price, and someone who will do what they promise, promptly. You made the grade on all counts. My Garrard turntable is not a high end piece of gear, but it's an essential part of my 1960's era console. I really did not think it could be fixed, but you did it. Thanks again, Mark

Hi Joel, I recently got my turntable back (the Zenith / VM changer) and it looks like new! The squeaks and odd noises are gone and it plays and changes perfectly. Thanks so much! I am a very satisfied customer. Joe

Joel We got the Dual 1245 back several days ago in good shape. It just didn't seem right to poke the old turntable in the middle of our entertainment center so I hunted around in closets and corners and came up with an old set of Bose 601 speakers and an Onkyo TX-4500 Receiver. Hooked it all up and let it play for a while on Cat Stevens (Izitso), Styx (The Grand Illusion), Kansas (Leftoverture) and ABBA (The Album). It really took us back....my wife and I have been married 33 years so we lived through a lot of the really "good" music together. Although it's going to be difficult to find a cabinet to accomidate all of the old nonstandard-sized components of our original system, there is just no comparision to the sound coming out of the new digital stuff. There is also something to be said for a bunch of electronics approximately 30 years old that still perform flawlessly. Excellent job on the turntable and thank you very much for the unique service you provide. Anthony

Joel, We've been playing records like they were going out of style. (Dual CS-5000) Who would have thought records could sound that good! Thank you for recommending the needle cartridge upgrade (Ortofon Super OM-20). The sound is so much more alive and resonating (which is one of the reasons why we bought $1400 speakers.) We are having a bit of a problem with static and cat hair and the merging of both. What would you recommend? Do you sell any of the cleaning systems? Kevin

Joel, You rebuilt my Dual 1019 back in January and it is still working ABSOLUTELY SUPERBLY!!!!!!! It is as good as new or better. There is tremendous separation in the stereo and the sensitive is unbelievable. We can only move the volume control a couple of notches and the room is completely full of "fantabulous" sound!! Thanks a million again, and may you be able to rebuild others classic turntables for many years to come. Here is wishing you and yours a Blessed Christmas and a Wonderful New Year! Jerald

Hello - I went through the process from your web pages on setting up the tone arm (Dual 1219) and all seems to be very good indeed. We are at 1.25 grams, the optimim recommended by Shure and records play very well. If I run into a problem you will hear from me.; otherwise, I won't bother you. This has all gone very well and, although it was an expensive proposition, I am very pleased how it has turned out. Thanks for doing what you said you would, on time . You are a class act and, should you need an additional reference, I'll be happy to help anytime. Take care - Jeff

From beginning to end, it was a pleasure to do business with you. Mike

Hi Joel, I was delighted to speak with you yesterday. From the moment I first received it, I fell in love with this table Pioneer PL-L1000), and I love it even more now after you have fixed it. The way this fine machine operates and sounds is amazing; with the new AT440 cartridge installed, I much prefer it to my Denon-1200 with Denon 103 cartridge (which, as you know, is a "fancier" one, and three times more expensive than the AT one). Thank you again for your fine work and dedication. You are truly setting the example for the younger generation how to do the business an old-fashion, I'd say, heirloom, way. Please stay well, Eugene

hi joel, well i finally got the dual (505-2)fired up. my first impression was that there is still a slight "hum" primarily out of the right channel although the left presents some as well. by turning down the gain on the phono preamp i can make it go away, but the overall volumn levels go away with it naturally. as far as the ortofon is concerned, i didn't listen to any of my quality lp's, just some old psychadelic stuff that i hadn't heard in decades. but i detected no rumble on the quiet passages. my overall impressions are that the dual has been returned to its original performance and i am truly grateful! if you could give any insite into minimizing the hum without lowering the gain, i would be most appreciative. take care and thanks again. bill

Hi Joel, Just wanted to drop you a line. In 2001, (this e-mail received 28 January 2007!) you redid my original owner Zero 100. We negotiated a trade with my Marantz wood cabinet, after I recieved the table, I sent a 1966 Olds Toronado design magazine to you. Every time I look at the Zero 100, I think of how nice it works and glad I am that I sent it to you. I managed a high-end audio store for a while and dropped your name and website a hundred times. I became a turntable tweaker myself because of your fine work. People loved coming to me for advice and expertise I gained from your website. We had a nice stock of items and parts, and when we couldn't find what we needed, I had the person purchase it from you. I offered in a lot of cases to install it for free or a small fee. Thanks for all the expertise that you have shared over the years. Hope that you are feeling stronger every day. Best of luck, Stan

Hi Joel: I finally summed up the courage to re-install the turntable (Grundig GC 035 changer), and everything works just fine. Part of my fear was listening to it after a silence of at least 29 years ... so much has happened between then and now. The Irish, as you may know, are very superstitious, as well as highly sentimental. But it's happily playing "Madame Butterfly" for me as I peck away at the keyboard. I am so happy I found your site several years ago, and had the wisdom to save it to get in touch with you "some day." Fortunately, "some day" came, and everything is back together again, after such a long time. Thank you so much for your considerable help. You have no idea how much hope I pinned on you. Best regards, Charlie

Hey Guys: Turntable (Elac-Miracord 770H) came in yesterday. I've spent the last hour setting all the adjustments in the operating instructions and putting it through the test with an old org. sound track of GOLDFINGER. You did a great job! Everything works perfectly . What do you used to clean records? I still have what sounds like "static" in some of the songs then it goes away. I know it's in the record because it does the same thing at the same time no matter how many times I play it.Is there anyway to filter out the noise? Thanks again for the professional job. I will recommend you to everyone.

Hi Joel, I wanted you to know the turntable (Technics SL-1700) arrived, and in good condition yesterday. I unpacked it and set it up and tested it and it works and sounds great, though I have to admit that I was a little confounded in how to install and adjust the tonearm counterbalance. I looked around on the web and found a manual for that model, but even after following the instructions, I didn’t initially adjust it right – I had it set back to far so that when the arm was raised, it would swing back to the resting position, away from the LP. I did get it functioning, but I am still not certain I have it at the proper amount of force. Anyway, I wanted to thank you, especially for cutting me a break on the cartridge price and waiving the packing fee. You were extremely helpful in your advice as I hunted for a unit, and it has been a pleasure doing business with you. You were right about the iMic – it does not have the quality I want (I didn’t purchase it.) So I will be getting a preamp, and I am debating whether to get an external two channel mixer that plugs into the Mac via USB instead of using the line in on the Mac itself. Sincerely, David

Joel The BIC 980 turntable I sent you for repairs was returned to me last night. I was busy then however, and couldn't set it up until today. Are you guys from Earth or what ? Quick answers to my questions, great work at a reasonable price, a quicker turn-around time on my turntable than I had hoped for; when was the last time I dealt with a company like that ? And I have music again !! It took me a little time to get the tone arm set properly but I followed the instructions on your web site and all is well in this house again. I wish I had found you a couple of years ago. I've read the comments by former custoners and I know that you don't need any more endorsements---but you have mine anyway. Unqualified. Many thanks.
